I earn a very small commission at no cost to you* It’s that time of the year again where Santa’s elf is coming to visit! In our house we don’t have a naughty elf, but one that is here to spread Christmas cheer! I created a guide last year and decided to do it again this year! When wandering around the Christmas aisles I found this 24 Day Ultimate Elf Kit. So if you are looking for something easy with preplanned ideas this may be the way to go for you. I snagged it because it has 3 different backdrops and different props that I will be able to use with my elf for the different activities I have planned. It also includes your letter from your elf and idea cards for each day. This year we will be going up to The Polar Express Experience, so I tried to plan some of my days easier than others. I also have a baby this year too so I didn’t want to stress myself out too much. When I was at Hobby Lobby I snagged some cute craft ideas (all under $5) because they were all 50% off! I will link some of those (non affiliate) and others that are similar as well that I suggest. This is a fun way to spread Christmas cheer and these are our activities for the month, so I don’t mind spending some money. We also only do the 5 gifts (want, need, wear, read, do) so this is another way for our kiddo to get some extra fun during December. The above graphic are just easy ways to pose your Elf! I will try to update alone the way and post pictures of how we pose our Elf! Last year my daughter took a picture of her Elf with her polaroid camera and added to her little "scrap book", it was such a fun idea and will be doing this again this year as well. Here is my list of what my daily plans are along with how I will be posing my Elf! Remember you cannot touch or move your elf, so make sure that you set them up in a place that can stay like that all day!
1. Christmas countdown chain - I snagged this one at Hobby lobby for $1.50. I made my own last year and honestly I felt like the cost was worth it because of the time it took for me to get the different colored paper and cut them into strips. This is also a great way to work on numbers because I have my daughter write each day on the strip so she can see what day we are on and see how many we have left! Amazon also has some cute Christmas paper cut already, it’s a little more expensive but if you have Prime the shipping will be free and faster. 2. Advent calendar - Can buy or make: book to read nightly - Christmas themed, Lego kit, candy, etc. We love Bluey and this year we are really working on reading so I decided to go with a book advent calendar I debated getting her a Lego one because there are so many fun ones but decided that books were the way to go this year. Other Ideas: Building block set, Christmas tree set, Lego Harry Potter set 3. Read a Christmas story - We are book people over here so we have plenty of Christmas stories. But if you don’t this would be such a fun thing to go on an adventure to your nearest book store to buy a Christmas book together to read. 4. Make a Christmas movie watch list - I found this easel pad on clearance after back to school shopping and we use it to make all our movie lists Its out of stock right now but I found similar. Now I’ll be honest I paid $5 this guy and the only other deal I found that is decent is this one h and it’s sticky. But you can easily just buy some cheap poster paper and do the same! 5. Write a letter to Santa- For this one I leave out a paper with markers, stickers, and an envelope so that she can write her letter to Santa. We actually have a neighborhood nearby that has a setup where they can go drop off their letter to Santa. It’s so cute and she loves getting to put it in the big box 6. Sugar cookie decorating - We make sugar cookies for all the holidays so we have tons of cookie cutters and have perfected thick yet soft cookies. This is the best recipe that I have found, and if you have never made royal icing it’s a must! Once it dries then you can actually stack the cookies and it makes a world of difference. Meringue powder is a MUST for your royal frosting and this is the one that I always get 7. Make a snowman - can be with a craft kit OR use kinetic sand! 8. Make a Christmas card/mini gift for your teachers (*teachers love gift cards!) 9. Make an ornament snow globe - Or you can just make a snow globe with this little kit. It would be perfect as a gift for the grandparents too! If you are looking for something a little more simple you can snag these wooden ones (pack of 50 for $8) or head to Hobby lobby and find a paint your own like this tree or clay ones 10. Wear a Christmas sweater - make your own or have fun finding silly ones! 11. Make a bow garland - If you have seen this bow garland trend it is so cute. I found these bows for less than $1 and they would be so easy to use! You just glue them together to create your garland like this video . If you want to do a total DIY this is a tutorial you can follow as well. 12. Make candy cane reindeer for your classmates - In the past I have found little foam kits that we have put together but this year we are going more simple. I have all the supplies at home because I am a craft girly and have a closet full. But if you are looking for an all in one this kit has everything that you need (minus the candy canes). It’s a simple process, but if you are looking for a step by step check out this post on how you can make them 13. Wear Christmas colors - Red and green and white all over! 14. Christmas music dance party - We have our record player and throw on a Christmas album! 15. Finger paint art *can give to grandparents!* - wreath, reindeer, light string (or hand tree). These are simple ideas but you can always look for tutorials like this wreath one! 16. Elf pom poms - I snagged this kit at Hobby Lobby for $2 so we can make our own little elves! 17. Christmas bracelets - We love making bracelets over here so we already have a ton of beads but this year I decided to snag some Christmas charms and new gold letters so that we can make themed bracelets. I will use these more than once so for me I don’t mind buying them separate. If you aren’t big into bracelet making or don’t think you will use the supplies this kit is only $3 and has everything that you need. If you have never made a bracelet before the knotting with elastic bracelets needs to be secure or they will come apart. I highly suggest learning how to do a sailors knot and this video has a tutorial to help 18 Christmas tree game - I found this one for $2 and it’s a great way to play a game as a family 19. Christmas movie night - Use that list you made and pick a movie to watch together! 20. Make a hot chocolate bar - This is such an easy idea to do at home. We have one of those little divider containers that would be perfect for this! I’ll add in the hot chocolate packets, crushed candy canes, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, mini crushed toffee and marshmallows. If you are someone that wants an all in one fix where you don’t have to do the work there is this cute premade set for $10 21. Family game night - We love playing games and one of my daughters favorites is Sorry! Last year for Christmas she got this Giant Sorry Game which will be so fun to all play together, plus they have 8 different game options. 22. Look at Christmas lights - This is an easy activity where you can just walk around your neighborhood! You can also check out your local events like tree lightings, zoo lights, or botanical gardens! Some of our local neighborhoods also have community light shows too so might be something to check out (Instagram is a great place to find these!) 23. Wear Christmas socks - You can find socks pretty much anywhere and this is such a fun way to wear your Cheer! 24. Make a snowflake or candy cane - paper or with pipe cleaners You can snag one of these kits to make wreathes or candy canes or you can check out Wondercrafts Youtube where they have 90+ videos on how to make paper snowflakes 25. For an added bonus I am planning on doing this on Christmas with our family and thought it would be a fun way for our elf to say goodbye. He will be leaving a selfie of him and then asking us to do the same! Family photoshoot - Ideas: set up in front of your tree - make a backdrop by adding Christmas paper to a wall
