How to throw the best birthday party ever. Okay let’s be real, The Office is one of our all time favorite shows, and since the 1st birthday party is realllly about the parents surviving the first year, naturally we made it about ourselves. I’m not lying when I say we are ridiculously huge fans, if you ask any of our friends it’s generally on as background noise when they come over and we cycle through the series constantly. When I was on maternity leave Stevie learned to recognize the theme song and would turn and smile when she heard it. I know, we have a problem. Here is my list of the must haves for your office party - and don’t be like us and forget the jello! 1: It is your birthday banner - guys this was SO easy, just crank up the font to like 400, print it landscape, tape it together, and hang with masking tape. If you would rather buy one you can purchase here too. 2: Brown, black, and grey balloons - This one was TOUGH! Apparently we need to live in Scranton where they have the most boring balloon colors because I couldn’t find brown or grey, I had to pay extra for silver and bronze. Make sure you only pump them up halfway (this thing worked amazing!) and then hang with some basic streamer. 3: No Toby sign - do I really need to say more….? 4: Photobooth/sign - so our parties are a little extra thanks to my best friend and we love having a photo booth! And if you’re doing photos like Dwight, you obviously need a sign to make sure people don’t get lost. 5: Attire - Yes we dressed our daughter as Dwight, and it was amazing. Especially when my sister and her husband walked in as Pam and “Asian Jim” (Season 9 Episode 3). We encouraged all Office shirts and had ours custom made! 6: A passive aggressive note reminding everyone in the office that the microwave is a shared item. 7: Food - Okay, this one I’m about to break down in multiple sections because we need to appreciate so many references from the show! Kevin: We decided on pigs in a blanket because it was easy finger food to feed everyone and let’s be honest, Kevin’s chili is pretty messy! Also, you can’t forget his M&M’s! Andy: We didn’t throw a garden party but we had to break off a piece of that….fancy feast? Kelly: Because everyone wants to look hot eating a cupcake. Our second option would have been a sheet cake, with her name spelled wrong, and a chiclet. Michael Scott Paper Company: Turns out there’s no limit to the number of cheese puffs you can throw at someone’s face. Michael: He’s never heard of a screwdriver before, but he did throw some orange juice with some vodka and make orange vod-juice-ka Oscar: Obviously we needed some limoñade for the kids! Phyllis: Ruining the Finer Things Club with her popcorn of course! Stanley: You’ve been meatballed!! Obviously had to have meatballs, but we also did regular pretzels, and soft pretzels because well I like pretzel day. We had the best time and I hope you got some ideas for your next Office Party! And last but not least, make sure you have some party favors! We made custom Mugs (America's Got talent viewing party anyone?!) for our family and then ordered custom stickers for our friends (I used the deal on Instagram for this one, highly suggest it)! What would you have added that we forgot? Leave a comment below and let me know! All professional photos done by Jessica Cate Photography
